Navigating Workspace
Audience: Administrators and Guides.
The Workspace page tracks a student's Presented, Practiced and Mastered progress for each Montessori work in the classroom. A visual view of progress is available through Workspace, Reports and Observations, and a student's Workspace Report is an excellent way to showcase progress at parent conferences. Workspace is also where Lesson Plans are built.
- Select Workspace on the main menu. If you have more than one classroom, change classrooms using the Classroom selector at the top left.
- Students are listed on the left of the page under the Students tab, with a Works tab alongside it. Select a student by clicking their name. The active student is highlighted and their name appears above the list of works in the centre of the page.
- The areas for the classroom are listed in the pull down menu in the centre of the page. Selecting an area shows its works below, each with the selected student's Presented, Practiced and Mastered status.
Recording progress
Progress is recorded by clicking one of the three circles on a work's row. The left circle is Presented, the middle is Practiced and the right is Mastered. The circle turns purple and the progress is saved straight away. A small panel then opens where you can add a note, attach a photo or change the date; if you don't need any of these, the panel closes on its own.
You can record the same level more than once; each click adds a new entry to the work's history. The History icon on the work's row shows every entry for that student, where dates can be changed and entries deleted.
A Quick Entry button at the top right lets you record progress for several students and works at once.
Lesson Plan
Your Lesson Plan is on the right hand side of the page. Use the plus control on a work's row to add it. Select View by Student or View by Area beneath the panel to see the whole classroom's plan.
