Workspace and Progress
Audience: Administrators and Guides.
Overview
The Workspace is the main page for recording and tracking student progress through the curriculum. It may also be called the progress page.
Finding your way around
Choose a classroom at the top. The page has three main areas:
- Left: the Students and Works tabs. Choose a student to see their works in an area, or choose a work to see every student's progress on that work.
- Middle: the progress grid. Choose an Area and see its works. Each work has three progress choices: Presented, Practiced, and Mastered. Grey means not yet recorded; purple means completed.
- Right: the lesson plan. Use the plus/minus control to add or remove a work from the student's lesson plan.
- Drag works up or down to change their order.
- Use the funnel icon to filter works by Not Started, Presented, Practicing, or Mastered.
- Use the magnifying glass in the Works column to search. Matching works from other areas in the classroom can also appear.
Recording progress with notes and photos
- Click one of the three progress circles for Presented, Practiced, or Mastered. The circle turns purple and the progress is saved.
- A small panel opens under the work. Type a note in Add a note (optional) if you want to add context.
- Click the camera button to attach a photo, if needed.
- Click the calendar icon if the work actually happened on a different date.
- Click Save Note when finished, or Dismiss to close the panel.
Good to know: If you do not enter anything in the panel, it closes automatically after a moment. The progress entry is still saved.
Viewing and fixing a work's history
Each work has a History icon. It becomes active after the work has at least one entry for that student. The history shows who recorded each entry, when it was recorded, the note, and any photo.
- Pencil icon: edit the note or photo.
- Calendar icon: change the date.
- Envelope icon: share the entry by email.
- Trash icon: delete the entry. You must confirm because deleting an entry cannot be undone.
Good to know: You can only change the date or delete entries that you created yourself.
Quick Entry: record progress for several students
Use Quick Entry when several students completed the same work.
- Click Quick Entry at the top right of the Workspace.
- Set the date. It starts with today, but you can change it to a past date.
- Choose one or more students and one or more works.
- Choose the progress level: 1, Presented; 2, Practiced; or 3, Mastered.
- Optionally add a comment and choose whether the selected works should be added to or removed from the lesson plan.
- Click Save Entry.
A separate progress entry is created for every student and work you selected.
Hiding and unhiding works
If a classroom does not use a particular work, you can hide it. Hiding only removes it from the current classroom's view; it does not delete the work.
- On the work row, click the menu icon and choose Hide Work.
- To bring hidden works back, click Unhide Works next to Add Work. This button appears only when the current area has hidden works.
- Search the hidden works and select the ones to bring back, or use Select All.
- Click Unhide Works to confirm.
