Does Montessori Workspace Have a Parent Portal?

Montessori Workspace does not have a parent portal or parent logins, for one reason: parent portals do not work. There is a simpler solution, described at the end, but first, three reasons why portals fall short.

1. Most parents do not have time to log in to a portal. If they do, they have usually lost their username or password, or forgotten where to go. In practice around 80 percent never log in. Even with a portal, parents will tell you they feel disconnected from the school.
2. The parents who do log in regularly often use the information against you: why hasn't my daughter had a lesson this week, or why aren't you focusing more on Math and Science.
3. If teachers suspect their private record keeping notes might end up on a portal, they hold back from using the system fully.

The solution

Montessori Workspace lets teachers push updates to parents instead. After recording an observation, select Share on that observation to send it to the student's contacts by email in real time. You can send to individual contacts or to All Contacts. This keeps the teacher in full control and is immediate and engaging for parents.
