# Observations and the Student's Journey

*Audience: Administrators and Guides.*

The Observations tool tracks a student's journey through your Montessori school. It provides a place to record the things that go undocumented when you focus only on work progress. Photos can be included; you can capture the moment a student masters a difficult work and preserve their look of accomplishment. Observation Reports carry these moments into your parent conferences.

Observations combine date tagged comments and photos with the student's work status and attendance, which are included automatically. Filters let you highlight a particular kind of entry across the timeline; showing only Works, for example, displays work progress from most recent to oldest.

1. Select Observations from the main menu, changing classroom if necessary.
